Protocol for investigation of Ford Avenue shooting
ALPENA, Mich. — In follow up to this morning’s report of a shooting on Ford Avenue, Alpena City Police Chief Joel Jett talked about how the department handles releasing information to the public.
Jett said he understands that when something like this happens, the public wants to know the details, but he explains the protocol the department must follow before releasing information.
Jett said as new information is discovered and they feel it can be released, they will do so.
He also added that sharing information on social media can have negative consequences and Jett asks that the public be mindful when doing so.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
