Congress certifies Electoral College, Biden’s victory
WASHINGTON, D.C. — After being forced into recess because of an insurgence in the U.S Capitol, Congress was able to convene later Wednesday evening and certify Joe Biden’s 306 Electoral College votes.
In their joint meeting, the Senate and House of Representatives heard several objections to electoral college results, however none of them gained enough support. The states of Arizona and Pennsylvania were both debated and both upheld by bipartisan votes in both chambers.
As a result, President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris now have a clear path to inauguration on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
