Border closure affects Michigan hunters

ALPENA, Mich –Travel to Canada will not be happening anytime soon as the U.S. Canada border closing has been extended.

This closure has placed a damper on Michiganders who visit Canada for hunting and fishing.

It has also greatly affected Canadian tourism companies, like the owners of Alberta Adventures, who said springtime is crucial for them.

According to Co–Owner, Steven Overguard,  visitors come from all over the U.S. and a huge percentage are from Michigan.

Co–Owner Debbie Overguard added that their business has been greatly affected by the closure of the border.

Steve added that even though they are feeling the economic impact of the border closure, he strongly feels tourism works both ways.
