ALPENA, Mich.– A local organization is preparing a pandemic–era twist on their annual event.
The Alpena branch of the Vietnam Veterans of America provides Thanksgiving dinners to households in need every year.
In 2020, however, they’ll be making like most restaurant services by delivering the meals contact–free.
Packages include a turkey, a pie kit, potatoes, and other thanksgiving staples. All families in need who sign up receive the service for free.
Organizer Tammy Kish says she’s thankful for the community’s help.
“Our program couldn’t be if it wasn’t for the great people in our community who donate to us. It’s their donations that make this program work.”
If your family needs some help this thanksgiving, registration is still open until 6:00 tonight.
