All calm at the capitol

LANSING, Mich.– Things remained calm in Lansing Sunday.

The area around the state capitol was under close watch by the Michigan National Guard.

This follows a warning from the FBI earlier this week about armed demonstrations being planned for all 50 state capitols.

Michigan organized its National Guard to deter a siege like the one in Washington D.C. on January 6.

Like in many other states Sunday, the show of force seems to have worked.

“And I’m happy to report that as of 3:00 P.M. right now, we have had no incidents of violence. We have had protestors at the capitol and we’ve had counter–protestors, and it has all stayed peaceful” said Lansing mayor Andy Schor.

The protestors remained calm for the remainder of the day.

The National Guard and news media vastly outnumbered the dozen or so members of the “Boogaloo” movement who showed up in the early afternoon.

Counter–protestors and non–militant Trump supporters made up the rest of the small crowd.

The gatherings at other state capitols were similarly small.
