Zombies Invade Downtown Alpena for the Zombie Crawl

Downtown Alpena was having fun going into the Halloween weekend, with the Fresh Palate hosting the 8th Annual Zombie Crawl on Saturday night.

Rachel Nieves, a server for The Fresh Palate, said “It’s the annual zombie crawl that we do every year last year, we weren’t able to because of COVID. So this is our first year back, and we’re really excited and all the teams are really dope.” The bars participating in the Zombie Crawl this year are The Nucleus Lounge, Rusty Petunias, PIF Cider, The Black Sheep, Latitudes Tavern, and The Polish Corner.

Chris Chrzan, the General Manager for The Fresh Palate

Chris Chrzan, the General Manager for The Fresh Palate, said “So each location has a specialty drink. They have a wonderful stir stick that’s been provided to get them points. There’s zombies hidden at every location, they go around and look for the zombies, the others zombies.” Chzran added, “They get zombies for points, and they bring stir sticks, and they also find items like pumpkins, candy skeletons. They gotta do selfies, they bring it all back here, we tally it up and it’s a free prize.”

Among all the fun events, three bands also played at The Nucleus Lounge, and the three playing were State The Odds, Dr. West, and Nuke and the Nightshift. Nieves said lastly, “It’s awesome we miss having faces here, smiling faces with no mask, just people in a room having fun together.”
