Near the freezing mark tonight; Showers late Saturday

High temperatures today reached the lower 50s across Northeast Michigan. The day started with cloudy skies, then high pressure moving in from the west has brought clearing skies this afternoon. Mainly clear skies and light winds will allow the temperatures to become very cold overnight.

A Freeze Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for all of Northeast Michigan, from 10 p.m. tonight until 8 a.m. Saturday. Temperatures will get close to the freezing mark away from the shoreline of Lake Huron. It will take until Sunday to reach temperatures more typical of early October.

The next storm system that will affect our area is currently over the Rockies, where it is snowing in the higher elevations! Our temperatures will be too warm for snow late tomorrow, but it will bring a damp evening to our area. Drier conditions and warmer temperatures will move in Sunday.

Low temperatures tonight will cool to the lower 30s away from the lakeshore, upper 30s near the shoreline. Cloud cover will increase tomorrow, then showers will arrive in the early-evening. High temperatures will reach about 58 degrees with a breeze from the southeast about 15 mph.

Total rainfall amounts through early Sunday will be about one-quarter inch for most of the area. It’ll be a wet end to Saturday but fairly quick moving, just lasting Saturday evening and nighttime.

Saturday will start with dry weather, lasting until showers move in late, and high temperatures will get to the upper 50s. Sunday will be drier but breezy, wind gusts could occasionally peak near 30 mph. High temperatures will warm to the middle 60s Sunday afternoon under a mix of sun and clouds. A few spotty showers are possible Monday, not amounting to anything significant, and high temperatures will reach the upper 50s or close to 60 degrees. Brighter skies will arrive Tuesday and more sunshine is expected Wednesday.
