Warmth remains with low humidity

Temperatures today reached highs of 81 degrees in Alpena, 83 degrees in Traverse City and 80 degrees in Cheboygan. Highs will be in the lower to middle 80s for the rest of the week with comfortable humidity levels for the next two days.

The Perseid meteor shower will peak in the predawn hours, early August 12. To view them, go to a dark area, away from town or city lights. The forecast early Wednesday is for clear skies with temperatures in the lower 60s. Early Thursday, partly cloudy skies are expected with temperatures in the upper 50s.

Humidity levels will remain comfortable Wednesday and Thursday with dew points in the 50s. Friday, dew points will increase to the 60s. The air mass will feel muggier Friday through the weeekend.

Wednesday: Sunny and warm (but not humid). Predawn lows will be near 59 degrees. Temperatures will rise to the middle 70s in the late-morning. Afternoon highs will reach 85 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in near 80 degrees or in the upper 70s.

Thursday: Mostly sunny: Early-morning lows will be in the upper 50s. Late-morning temperatures will be in the lower 70s. Afternoon highs will get up to about 82 degrees. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s during the early-evening.

Friday: Mostly sunny and slightly muggier. Predawn temperatures will be in the lower 60s. Late-morning temperatures will rise to the lower 70s. Afternoon highs will be close to 82 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the middle 70s.
