Alpena City Fire Department rescues dog from ice

ALPENA, Mich. — Last Friday, two Alpena City Firefighters were called to an ice rescue along the Thunder Bay River.

Two dogs, Loki and Thor, has been playing when Loki fell through the ice. Firefighter Chris Morrison, dressed in a “mustang suit” and attached by rope to his partner Michael Sanders, found an entry spot in the river and began swimming and breaking the ice to rescue the pup.

Loki was brought to the ambulance after being rescued to shore and taken to Switzer Veterinary Clinic for further treatment.

“That dog got the works,” Morrison said of the clinic. Loki and Thor have both been returned to their owners.
