ALPENA, Mich. – An elementary school teacher decided to spruce up the lawn at a local elementary school in hopes of uplifting the community.
Feeling sad about the COVID–19 pandemic, she felt compelled to do something to uplift spirits.
Polly Hunter and her husband decided to make signs thanking all essential workers and place them on the grass at Ella White elementary school
Polly, who teaches first grade, thought it would be a great idea to get the staff involved by holding up the signs and posing for pictures.
She didn’t realize the emotions that would come over her when she started to make the signs.
Polly says she wants to take her students on a nice picnic post COVID-19.
