Supporting local businesses helps community
HARRISVILLE, Mich. — While COVID–19 continues to financially impact small businesses, one Alcona business owner talks about alternative ways to support small businesses and why it’s important.
Ben Dietrich President of Alcona County Chamber of Commerce and owner of Harrisville Eye Care, said the normal holiday rush of shopping has been interrupted by the pandemic. Dietrich said supporting small businesses is important and he says they play a critical role in the community.
Dietrich shared alternate ways that the community can continue to support small businesses during closures.
He wants the community to know that small businesses do more than employ people. They help keep the unemployment rate down because they’re more likely to bring their employees back sooner than larger businesses would.
