Summer taking a pass for a day; Warmer temperatures will return

Summer has decided to take a pass for today, high temperatures reached only the middle to upper 50s around the area. Rain combined with brisk winds out of the north have kept temperatures very cool. These temperatures would be nearly normal for a day in October — not June!

The last round of rain is sitting over our area and will begin to move our tonight. Dry weather over Wisconsin will progress east, and temporarily hover over Northeast Michigan tonight to tomorrow morning. A developing system over the Upper Plains will bring yet more rain beginning Friday afternoon.

Low temperatures tonight will drop to the middle 40s with partly cloudy skies. Some sunshine is likely in the early-morning hours, then getting replaced by cloud cover, and high temperatures will get close to 70 degrees. Periods of rain will begin late in the day and continue into Saturday.

High school softball state semifinals is looking dry. The day will start with partly cloudy skies in East Lansing, then cloud cover will increase. High temperatures will get close to 70 degrees with brisk winds out of southwest around 15 mph. Any showers should hold off until the late-afternoon or evening.

We will get some cool temperatures this weekend with winds out of the northwest on Saturday. That will keep temperatures in the lower 60s for the afternoon. Damp weather is expected late Friday through Saturday afternoon. Skies will begin to clear Saturday evening although plenty of cloud cover will likely remain on Sunday. It will take a few days to see some warmer temperatures which will move in early next week.
