Showers Wednesday morning-afternoon; Dry break late Wednesday-early Thursday

High temperatures today reached 70 degrees in Alpena and Mio. In Alpena, winds began out of the north which coming off of the land allowed temperatures to hit 70 degrees. Then, as winds shifted out of the southeast, temperatures cooled in the afternoon. Along the shoreline, temperatures were cooler all day where there was a light breeze off of Lake Huron, and highs at the shoreline reached the lower to middle 60s.

Mostly sunny skies lasted most of the day, and dry weather will continue until tonight. The next round of showers is currently over Lake Superior and is drifting toward the southeast. We will get a few showers tomorrow morning-afternoon, then drier skies are expected late tomorrow.


Temperatures tonight will remain mild, lows will settle around the middle 40s. Tomorrow morning, temperatures will get to around 50 degrees and the greatest chance of showers will come in the morning hours. A chance of showers will remain into the afternoon, some late-day sunshine is possible and high temperatures should reach about 64 degrees.

A period of clearing skies will take over late tomorrow and dry weather will continue early Thursday. The next chance of showers will start in the late-afternoon on Thursday and continue Thursday evening. High temperatures Thursday and Friday should get close to 60 degrees, and dry weather is expected all day Friday.
