Optimist Club of Alpena announces annual essay contest
ALPENA, Mich. — The Optimist Club of Alpena has announced their annual essay and oratorical contests. Students entering the essay contest have an opportunity to win a $2,500 scholarship. Contestants must submit a written essay between 7 and 800 words on the pre-assigned topic, “Reaching Your Dreams by Choosing Optimism”. Club President Beckie Thomson say the organization has a long history of supporting youth in Alpena.
All youth in Northeast Michigan under the age of 19 are eligible to participate in the essay and oratorical contest. Entries for the essay contest must be post-marked by January 31.
The deadline to enter the oratorical contest is February 28. More information, including an application is available at https://www.optimist.org/.
