ALPENA, Mich.— As members of the Alpena County Republican Party mourn the loss of Commissioner Ronald Mcdonald, the process for finding a replacement has begun. Members of the Republican Party’s executive committee will select a county commissioner nominee on Friday, August 28.

The selected individual will be placed on the November 3 ballot. Three candidates have expressed an interest in the position.

The nominee is responsible for fulfilling the last three months of this year’s term. The county commissioner will serve the next two years on the committee, attend scheduled meetings and handle budgetary operations for the county.

Individuals interested in being considered for the position must complete an affidavit of identity with the county clerk by Wednesday, August 26.

The new commissioner nominee will be selected on Friday August 28.
