Neiman’s Family Market in Alpena officially closes

ALPENA, Mich. — Neiman’s Family Market in Alpena has officially closed down. On Sept. 8, President and CEO Bryan Neiman made the announcement they would be closing the location.

It was 37 years ago when his father Hal moved his family from Ann Arbor to Alpena to open the store. In a previous interview with WBKB, Bryan said the declining population and increasing competition in Alpena made it more difficult for independent grocery stores. He also noted the Coronavirus pandemic was causing problems with staffing, resulting in them being forced to close their delis.

Neiman’s Family Market still has locations in Tawas City, St. Clair, and Clarkston.
