Nationwide Freedom March coming to Alpena

ALPENA, Mich. — An army veteran is calling all patriots to attend a freedom march in Alpena. It’s part of a national event and many locations across the country are set to take part.

Organizer for the Alpena location, Tara Lay says this event is meant to celebrate the hard work of first responders, essential workers and the military. She also said this event is a nonpartisan one and is open for all people, no matter their political leaning, who want to show support for the country. “It’s just a whole event where all Americans and all patriots are coming together to show love and support for America and for our communities,” she said.

Attendees are encouraged to dress their vehicle up in any way they see fit and head to the rally location in the parking lot behind Alpena City Hall. Lay says people should stay in their vehicles so everyone can properly social distance. She’s hoping a large number people who love the United States show up and show their support. “We just want to have fun,” she said. “You know, have people there. If they want to come out and speak about something, they’re welcome. If people want to have vendors come out and do food or something, they’re also welcome for that. Music is also welcome. So, we’re trying to make this a big awesome rally for people to come have fun with.”

The freedom march is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24 and will begin 3 p.m. behind Alpena City Hall.
