More humid on the Fourth; Chance of storms Friday

High temperatures today reached the middle 80s for most spots in Northeast Michigan, although light winds out of the east kept temperatures a few degrees cooler at lakeside. Even though these temperatures have warmed up, the humidity has briefly lowered, making it feel more comfortable despite the warmer readings. The warmth will remain until the end of the week, and the humidity will increase again on Thursday.

Mostly clear skies will continue overnight, then cloud cover will likely build tomorrow. The chance of showers tomorrow is slim and confined mainly to the evening hours. An unstable air mass over the Upper Plains will shift east, and bring a more significant chance of showers or thunderstorms on Friday.

Low temperatures tonight will drop to the middle 50s. A mix of sun and clouds is expected tomorrow afternoon and high temperatures will warm to the middle 80s away from the shoreline. Even though tomorrow’s high temperatures will be similar to Wednesday’s, added humidity will make it feel more stifling.

For the Fourth of July fireworks, mostly dry weather is expected but for a small chance of showers. Temperatures at 9 p.m. will be in the middle 70s, then cooling to the upper 60s around 11 p.m.

High temperatures will reach 84 degrees tomorrow afternoon with mostly dry weather (except a slim chance of showers in the evening). The chance of showers/thunderstorms is higher on Friday and humidity will get to uncomfortable levels. After a cold front moves through late Friday, a cooler and drier air mass will arrive this weekend. Partly cloudy skies are expected on Saturday with high temperatures in the upper 70s, then afternoon temperatures will reach the middle 70s on Sunday.
