Michigan Works! hosting drop-off job fairs

ALPENA, Mich. — Recent data shows that Michigan has lost over 300 thousand jobs since the start of the pandemic.

Michigan Works! is hosting a series of job fairs across Northeast Michigan and they’re making it safer to find your next employer.

There are three pop-up, drop-off job fairs in Northeast Michigan in April and one in May.

On Saturday, April 17 a job fair will be held in Mackinaw City from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mackinaw City Recreation Center. On Wednesday, April 28 a job fair is being held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Alpena Michigan Works! Service Center on Chisolm Street. Thursday, April 29 there is a job fair at the Grayling Michigan Works! Service Center from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. On May 18 in at the Pavilion in Gaylord, there will be a job fair from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

In these fairs, job-seekers can get their résumé to employers without leaving their cars. Michigan Works! officials will provide a sheet with a list of job opportunities at the job fair.

“They can check off which jobs they want to apply to,” said Shelly Blankenship of Michigan Works! Alpena. “They’ll just provide us with one resume and we will give those to the employers that are looking to hire.”
