Meth lab taken down in Alcona County

GREENBUSH, Mich. — On Tuedsay, Aug. 18, Huron Undercover Narcotics Team detectives located a meth lab in Alcona County.

After months of investigation, H.U.N.T. executed a search warrant at a residence on East Cedar Lake Rd. in Greenbush Township. This is where they found an active methamphetamine laboratory.

44-year-old John Ray Cox of Greenbush was arrested and charged with six felony counts including Operating/Maintaining a Laboratory in the Presence of Minors, Laboratory Involving Hazardous Waste, and Operating/Maintaining a Laboratory in Specified Place. All of these charges are punishable by up to 20 years in prison and a $100,000 fine. He was also charged with child abuse second degree, punishable by up to ten years.

Cox remains lodged on a 25,000 cash bond. Additional arrests are expected pending review by the Alcona County Prosecutor.
