Local church receives grant reward for child daycare center
HUBBARD LAKE, Mich.— What once was an elementary school years ago is now home to the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake. The church has been active since 2009 and continues to expands its congregation and services to the community.
The church recently received a $2,000 grant from the First Federal of Northern Michigan Legacy Foundation to go toward their child daycare center. Llewellyn says, “Many families occupy their pews as well as Sunday school, vacation bible study and family church events.
The daycare center will only accept 20 children into the program, but the planning process is still underway. Fairbanks and other church volunteers are smoothing out the details on daycare licensing, renovations and salaries for employees.
One thing that is certain is the daycare will be open to the community and available to those in need of childcare. The daycare center is expected to be completed by the fall of 2021.
