Food and agricultural workers now eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine

ALPENA, Mich. – District Health Department Number Four said some agricultural workers are now eligible for a COVID–19 vaccine.

Employers within the food processing and agriculture industry should identify their frontline essential workers within the following categories.

They include employees who work in meat processing and meatpacking facilities, as well as migrant and seasonal farm workers involved in raising and harvesting products and work in close contact with other people.

While this new group is eligible, DHD4 wants to remind the public that they will continue to prioritize current
individuals, including 65 years of age and older and essential workers in healthcare, public safety and education first.

Employers or workers who feel that their organization falls into one of the eligible groups for vaccination should e-mail DHD4 at: covidvaccine@dhd4.org and include “Food Processing and Ag Workers” in the subject line.

Please include the name of the organization, a contact persons name and phone number, as well as a list of eligible employees.
