Chance of Rain Late Tuesday; Warming up This Weekend

High temperatures today reached the 70s all around northern Michigan, with sunny skies throughout the day in Alpena. Although we will see less sunshine tomorrow, temperatures will warm into the upper 70s.

The satellite image shows clear skies from the Great Lakes to the Northeast, provided by a high pressure system east of Massachusetts. As the high pressure system continues to move away, clouds will increase over Northeast Michigan tomorrow. A cold front now over Minnesota will bring a chance of showers to our area tomorrow evening.

In the morning, sunshine mixed with a few clouds will be the common scene across the Sunrise Side, then clouds will increase midday and afternoon leading to a chance of showers in the evening. To start the day, temperatures will be in the upper 50s or near 60 degrees in the morning, then afternoon temperatures are forecast to reach the upper 70s in Alpena.

Plenty of sunshine will brighten the skies Wednesday afternoon through Friday, and high temperatures will be in the upper 70s. A warming trend is predicted this weekend with temperatures reaching the 80s, though some scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Saturday.
