Bagley Street Bridge update week 16

ALPENA, Mich. – We’re already 16 weeks into the Bagley Street Bridge project.

Workers were out early Friday continuing their work on the construction process.

The road commission says the projects is still on schedule for a late fall completion.

Workers were able to complete pier three last week. This week workers are nearing completion of pier one.

“This week they completed pouring pier one, so pier one is waiting for the cure time of the concrete so they can strip the forms, pull out the coffer dam and pier one will now be complete. In addition they’ve now begun work on pier two,” said Alpena County Road Commission Managing Director Ryan Brege.

Pier two is in the middle of Thunder Bay River.

Brege said next week, they’ll begin demolishing the south end of the old bridge.
