Another record warm day set in Alpena; Record warmth possible Saturday

Temperatures set a new record high for the second time this week at Alpena airport! The high temperature reached 74 degrees. The old record for November 6 was 71 degrees, set in 1975.

Temperatures will remain very warm through the weekend. Another record high temperature could be set Saturday, Nov. 7 — the forecast calls for 73 degrees, the existing record is 68 degrees. Highs are also expected to reach the lower 70s Sunday and Monday. After that, a storm system from the plains will move in Tuesday and bring an end to this warm air mass. High temperatures will still be above normal Tuesday, then much colder temperatures will arrive Wednesday.

Saturday: Mostly sunny and potentially record-breaking warm. Predawn temperatures will begin in the lower 50s. Late-morning temperatures will climb to the middle 60s. Afternoon highs will reach near 73 degrees. Evening temperatures will go into the lower 60s/upper 50s.

Sunday: Partly cloudy, remains warm. Predawn temperatures will dip to the upper 40s. Late-morning temperatures will rise to about 60 degrees. Afternoon highs will warm to about 72 degrees. Evening temperatures will be near 60 degrees.

Monday: Increasing clouds. Early-morning temperatures will not cool much, in the middle 50s. Late-morning temperatures will be in the lower/middle 60s. Afternoon highs will get up to around 72 degrees. Evening temperatures will head into the lower 60s.

In the Caribbean, Eta will likely restrengthen to a Tropical Storm and travel over Cuba on Sunday. After that it will affect southern Florida on Monday. The center of Eta could potentially make landfall in southern Florida or could end up just south of Florida. Either way, southern Florida will get heavy rainfall with amounts of 6-12 inches forecast. After that, its forecast path turns toward the northwest and brings Eta into the Gulf of Mexico midweek.
