An Alpena County Commissioner has passed

ALPENA, Mich.– Alpena County Commissioner Ronald McDonald passed away Thursday, August 20. On Friday, his family and fellow commissioners mourned his death.

McDonald joined the Board of Commissioners in 2015 and was planning to run for the position again this fall. He served on a number of committees during his time with the board, including the airport and others.

Chairman Robert Adrian described him as a very kind man.

“He was a very nice man. He was very committed to the board. He was very passionate about the employees. One of the things he did frequently was… he would make arrangements with the different departments and he would bring donuts.”

McDonald’s cause of death has not been released. He was 77-years-old.
