Alpena’s Culligan Plaza welcomes this year’s Christmas tree

ALPENA, Mich. — Alpena’s Culligan Plaza is looking festive as this year’s city Christmas tree has arrived.

Each year people contact the City of Alpena to donate a Christmas tree and this year they received approximately 200 applicants.  This year’s pick is a  31–foot blue spruce tree donated by Noah Skiba.

City of Alpena employee John Nye said picking the tree is a long process as workers go out to look at the trees and determine which one is the best.

Nye said it will take approximately 3 days to get 75 strands of lights on the tree.
