Alpena Public Schools Board of Education Meeting
At last nights Alpena Public Schools Board of Education meeting the district formally announced their support of the upcoming AMA-ESD Millage renewal.
The millage will be on next months general election ballot and the district is hopeful that the community will support and pass it.
The millage provides critical funding to the district, especially when it relates to the area of special education.
According to Alpena Public Schools Superintendent Dr. John VanWagoner, the millage is critical to the district – It helps fund Pied Piper School and provides additional funding to various other special education services.
Last night the board unanimously approved a resolution to support the millage renewal.
“We formally, our board, chose to adopt a resolution to support the millage as it’s coming forth. With an understanding that, again, it provides those vital, vital services to all of our families that need those, and the students especially here in Alpena Public Schools.”
Some of the other items mentioned tonight included the AHS camera upgrade, which the board is looking forward to hearing more about in the near future.
