Alpena High School CTE Dinner

ALPENA, Mich. — A dinner of excellence Tuesday night honored students committed to the sciences, health, and trades work. Only the top two or three students in the career and technical education program at Alpena High School walked away with medals.

Teachers recognized students who performed beyond the bare minimum in their classrooms. Director of Technical Education Joyce McCoy says the program is vital because the high school is preparing students for the workforce.

“I think it’s vital for Alpena because we want our kids to be educated here and we have jobs here for them,” said McCoy, “so preparing them for jobs right here in our community, whether they have to go away for additional education, we want them to come back and know that we need them here in Alpena.”
