Alpena High school closed due to potential threat

ALPENA, Mich. – WBKB has learned that classes are cancelled at Alpena High School for Friday, September 10, 2021 due to a potential threat to the school. The District and school’s Facebook page provided limited details to the public.

According to APS, the Alpena Police Department contacted Alpena Public Schools administration to inform them of a threat to Alpena High School.

APS decided out of an abundance of caution to cancel Friday classes.

From Alpena Public Schools Facebook:

“Please note that this is an ongoing police investigation and we cannot comment on specifics at this time. The police have stated that they see no indication that the threat may extend to other schools, however, we have requested that there be a response by local local enforcement at other schools today to ensure student safety.”
