Alpena Girls Basketball Grab Season Opening Win against Tawas

ALPENA, MI – Alpena opened their Girls Basketball season as they took on the Tawas Area Braves in what was the debut for Alpena’s new head coach Laura Dubey. Both teams are looking to grab an early win this year.

Starting in the second quarter, Alpena got out to a double digit lead early on. First up the wildcats on a fast break Allison Urlaub with the ball. She’s gonna make the pass to Reese Wisniewski and the Sophmore fires it from three-point range and she sinks it.

Urlaub again with it, she looks for Franciska Treilha in the paint who’s got it. She then dishes it out to Reese once again and she’s got another three-pointer in this one. She really performed great in this one.

Second half now, Urlaub finding Jenna Leeck this time and the Senior on the great pass lays it up and in for the Wildcats.

Now Emily Kalisch gets the rebound. She’s got Cardinals all around her but has the wherewithal to find Franciska who takes the mid range jumper and that’s money right there.

Tawas Area with the ball now. They struggled to score for the first two quarters but picked up more points in the second half. Reeese Cadorette just inside the 3-point line makes the nice shot for the Cardinals.

Alpena now once again Reese Wisniewski on fire from deep continues to make big plays for the wildcats in this one with that three–ball.

Tawas now moving the ball around well until in the corner it’s Olivia Morand who fires a shot, hits the rim and falls right in.

Late in the game though, Alpena kept pulling away. Reese with a burst of speed flies into the paint and hits a perfect lay up she really couldn’t be stopped in this one.

Reese would again push her way through the Tawas defense with a burst of speed. She then dishes it to Allison Urlaub and she puts it up for three and nails it.

Laura Dubey gets her first win as head coach with Alpena as the Wildcats destroy Tawas 66–15.
