Alpena Countywide clean up scheduled
ALPENA, Mich . – If you have some household items to get rid of you can plan on attending a county wide clean up day event in a few weeks.
The Alpena Resource Recovery Facility will host the event at the Alpena Fairgrounds on May 1st.
Residents can drop off items like car and truck tires, mattresses, box springs and refrigerators. The county Wide Clean Up Day is from 8am to 1pm.
Organizers said funding from residents has helped put on this event each year
“The residents pay 20 dollars a year on their taxes for the recycling facility,” said Alpena Resource Recovery Manager Stan Mischley. “We use that money to do this cleanup day. In 2020, because of the pandemic we didn’t have one.”
Drop offs are free to county residents and businesses who have a recycling permit, but there are fees for multiple products that exceed the allowable cap.
Mischley wants to make sure those planning to attend know that no hazardous waste or garbage will be collected.
