OSCODA, Mich. — From 2015-2019, the Oscoda Owls varsity soccer team has shared the North Star League title twice (2015, 2018) to Alcona. This season, they won’t be sharing the title with any schools. In Monday’s 8-2 victory over Fairview on senior night, the Owls have clinched this year’s conference title.
Lewis Axline got the Owls off to a strong start. Not even halfway through the first half, the junior found the back of the twice to give Oscoda a 2-0 lead. James London and Ben Berenkowski also found the back of the net before the end of the first half. From there, the Owls had their foot on the gas pedal until the end of regulation. Oscoda would tack on four more goals in the second half to seal the deal.
Axline, Berenkowski, and Brendan Apsitis each scored two goals, while London and Michael Wrona each finished with one goal. Isaiah Ford scored two goals for Fairview (3-3).
Oscoda (7-4-3) will host Pinconning this Thursday at 5 p.m. Fairview will look to finish the regular season strong on Oct. 12 as they host Alcona.
