Magseed cuts down on surgery time
ALPENA, Mich. — When you hear the word Magseed you may think it’s something to put in your smoothie and maybe it is, but that wouldn’t be accurate for what it is being used for these days.
Old ways of performing breast cancer surgery required a wire placed in the breast the day of surgery but Dr. Ben Eggleston of MidMichigan Alpena explains how a Magseed cuts down on surgery time and is less invasive.
Eggleston said they have been using the Magseed for about two months and so far it has been a success.
He said one in eight women will get breast cancer which is why it is important to begin mammograms at age 40 to increase survival rates.
