Part-Time Master Control Operator
WBKB is currently looking for dedicated individuals interested in positions in our news production and master control operations. Individuals who can multi-task, solve problems and do things proactively, you’ll quickly become invaluable. The goal is to ensure production gets on smoothly and problem-free.
Responsibilities: Help prepare the set with lights, props, equipment, etc.
Operate VTR systems and automation during news production
Operate audio console and prompting systems during production
Direct the production floor during newscasts and show recordings
Skills: Basic computer skills are highly recommended
Resourcefulness and problem-solving A team player with great communication skills
A valid driver’s license
High school diploma; relevant training (e.g. production courses) will be an advantage.
News production shifts are as follows: 6:00 a.m.-7:00 a.m., 5:30 p.m.-6:30 p.m., 10:30 p.m.-11:35 p.m. These shifts are fluid and we can work around most people’s schedules. Opportunities exist for advancement in master control positions as available and fill-in.

COVID-19 considerations: Employees are required to wear masks when distancing is not available, control room staff when more than one operator is in the room. No member of the public is allowed in the building without masks.

The WBKB Sports Department is seeking a full-time sports anchor and reporter. This is an entry-level position, but experience shooting sports and being in front of a camera is a must.
Our coverage is heavily centered on high school sports from a core group of schools in our viewing area. The individual chosen for this position must be self-motivated, ambitious, and willing to go the extra mile to produce quality content. He/she will need to have good time management skills and be able to turn stories quickly and efficiently.
Job Duties include (but are not limited to):
– Producing and anchoring sportscasts for newscasts
– Reporting on a wide range of athletes and sports
– Establishing contacts within the community (coaches, athletic directors, etc.)
– Shooting sports and sports-related activities
– Co-hosting our Friday night football show during the fall
This job requires a lot of hard work and long hours. During the busy seasons, you may have to work more than full-time. However, the position is tremendously rewarding and is a great stepping-stone in the career of Sports Broadcasting.

Sports Videographer/Production Assistant
WBKB-TV is looking for the right person to continue our excellent coverage of local sports. You will be responsible for filming high school sports, and many different sporting events that take place here in Northeast Michigan. This job will require you to work from Tuesday-Saturday. Applicants must include a resume and cover letter. Any filming experience is a plus. Also, experience with Adobe Premiere is preferred.
