Winter art walk ready to welcome people in from the cold
Stop by downtown galleries for a night of fun at the first ever 'winter art walk' in Alpena.
Alpena — This summer saw the second year of folks walking around downtown and enjoying art as well as live entertainment.
Organizers of the downtown event have decided to bring that same format to the winter time. A winter art walk will take place this Friday night throughout the downtown at a few participating galleries. The walk features different holiday-themed live entertainment, raffles, and snacks as galleries extend their hours into the evening.
Gallery Owner Augie Matuzak is excited to open his doors and get folks out of the cold, so they can enjoy some good art and warm company.
“A lot of the people that stop by our gallery make an evening of it and go around and see everything that’s available, and a lot of them just enjoy being out,” said Matuzak.
the celebration of art and the downtown kicks off at 5:00 p.m. and runs until 8:00 p.m. Many businesses will be open during this time for Christmas shopping. the art walk is great way to help support these local brands and have a nice evening out.
