Wildcats net first win in consolation game

ALPENA, Mich. — After losing 3-1 to Negaunee in there opening game of the Thanksgiving Showcase last Friday. Alpena was able to record their first win of the season, as they defeated Sault Ste. Marie by a score of 6-0 in the consolation game.

Ian Lightfoot got the Wildcats on the board early with two goals within minutes of each other and Tanner Orban would net one of his two goals on the day to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead after the first period. Alpena brought the intensity the rest of the way as they were able to find the back of the net three more times.

Collin Lightfoot was lights out between the pipes, stopping all 14 shots he faced to record his first shutout of the season.

The Wildcats (1-3) are back on the ice on Friday, December 6th as they host Traverse City St. Francis. Puck drop is set for 6 p.m.
