Warming Trend Begins Tomorrow; Hot and Humid Weekend

A few rain showers fell earlier today mainly south of Alpena. The clouds and showers are moving eastward, and the sky is clearing over Northeast Michigan. Mostly sunny skies will shine tomorrow with warmer temperatures.

Today’s high temperatures warmed into the mid-70s around Alpena and locations to the west with partly sunny skies in the afternoon. A breeze out of the northeast about 10 mph combined with cloudy skies kept temperatures a few degrees cooler along the shoreline south of Alpena.

Temperatures will be warming up through the rest of the week. Highs will climb into the 80s on Thursday, and humidity will increase on Friday. The weekend will be hot and sticky as highs soar into the 90s Saturday afternoon. If you’re going to spend time outside Thursday through Saturday, you will want to have some sunscreen, a hat and water to beat the sunshine and the heat. Temperatures will cool down a bit on Monday when the high will be around 80 degrees.

Dew points are already increasing, so it is beginning to feel muggier. Today, dew points climbed from the mid-50s to the mid-60s. Dew points will be around 60 tomorrow, so it will feel tolerable or comfortable for most. Dew points in the mid-60s will make it feel muggy on Friday, and higher dew points near 70 on Saturday will make it feel sticky. Humidity levels are forecast to drop off by Monday.

Thursday will have mostly sunny skies and a high temperature of 83 degrees. High temperatures will heat up to 95 degrees Saturday afternoon combined with added humidity. On Sunday, scattered showers and thunderstorms will move through with a cold front. After the cold front, temperatures will drop off to a high near 80 degrees on Monday.
