Warmer Friday; More humid Saturday

High temperatures this afternoon got close to the 80 degree mark except near the shoreline where afternoon temperatures reached the middle 70s. Light winds out of the east kept temperatures cooler near the shoreline, and mainly sunny skies lasted all day.

Dry weather will continue in Northeast Michigan through the weekend, although more cloud cover mixed with breaks of sunshine are likely. A couple of disturbances producing outbreaks of thunderstorms tracking through the Plains will divert north and south of our area.


Looking back through the month of July, it turned out warmer and drier than normal. The average of all the daily high temperatures was 83 degrees, which is 3 degrees warmer than the long-term normal for July. The average of all the low temperatures throughout the month was 57 degrees, also slightly warmer than normal. Significantly less-than-normal rainfall was measured, totaling 1.78 inches last month — more than 1 inch drier than normal.

Low temperatures overnight will cool to the lower 50s under clear skies. The morning will start with clear skies and temperatures reaching the lower 60s. Partly cloudy skies are expected tomorrow afternoon and high temperatures will warm close to 84 degrees. Mild temperatures, gradually declining to the lower 70s, will last through tomorrow evening.

For any activities at the shoreline tomorrow, gentle water conditions are expected. High temperatures near the shoreline will reach the upper 70s. Dry weather is expected to last all day with light winds and low wave heights.

High temperatures will warm to the middle 80s tomorrow with partly cloudy skies. Low temperatures early Saturday will get milder, starting in the upper 50s. Partly cloudy skies will continue throughout the weekend. High temperatures will reach about 81 degrees on Saturday but humidity levels will likely increase then. Similar conditions are expected on Saturday with a few clouds and highs in the lower 80s. The next chance of showers will move into our are late Monday and last into Tuesday.
