Wanty, Eagles rally back to knock off Posen in Little Dipper showdown

POSEN, Mich. — Posen and Hale had their shining moments, but they also had their struggles Monday night. In the first half, the Posen Vikings looked like they were going to roll past Hale to claim this year’s North Star League Little Dipper title. However, in the second half the Eagles flapped their wings and fought back to edge Posen 59-58 in a thriller.

David Wanty was efficient as a heat pump. The junior paced the Eagles in the scoring department with 23 points. Keaton Ludwig recorded a double-double (12 points and 13 rebounds) and Brenden Bernard netted 10 in Hale’s victory over Posen.

Chase Dubie led the Vikings in scoring with 16 points. Lucas Stone contributed with 13 and AJ Brunet finished with 10.

Right now, the Vikings and Eagles are tied in first place (8-1) in the Little Dipper division. Hale will play their final regular season game this Friday as they’ll battle the Oscoda Owls (16-0). Meanwhile, Posen will head to Atlanta on Wednesday for a meeting with the Huskies (2-8).
