Volunteers needed to make supplies to combat shortage

ALPENA, Mich.— Nationwide healthcare facilities are experiencing supply shortages due to cornavirus and here in Alpena local residents are needed to help provide supplies to those area agencies.

Saliese Price, a native of Alpena started the Alpena County Mask and PPE Makers Facebook page in efforts to spread the word about supply making. Volunteers are needed to make masks, beanie caps and gowns to be donated to healthcare facilites and nursing homes.

Joann’s Fabric Store is giving away kits for anyone interested in sewing masks. The fabric store is also taking donated fabric and thread to go toward the cause. Supply drop off locations are provided at Alpena Sheriff’s Department and Joann’s Fabric Store.
