Veterans honored at Brown Trout

ALPENA, Mich. — The celebration kicked off with a procession of armed forces.  They had a presentation of colors and played the national anthem.

Owner of Alpena’s Buick GMC Gene Skiba said they have been sponsoring veterans night for about five years now.  Skiba adds that it is important to honor and give back to veterans for what they have given us.

Another sponsor from Meijer Warren Richter said this is his favorite night of the year.

Save Your Fork donated over 500 cupcakes for tonight’s event.

Brown Trout honored two special guests which were the youngest and oldest military members in attendance.  The oldest cut the cake, tasted it, and passed it on to the youngest.  This symbolized the passing of history and cherished traditions.

A small table set for one represented dignity and honor and signified the members from the armed forces who are missing from the ranks.

While many of the veterans declined to speak with us, we, here at WBKB, honor them too.
