United Way of Northeast Michigan in Search for Volunteers

The United Way of Northeast Michigan is in need of your help!

The organization is currently in search for volunteers to help the program determine how much money the united way should give out to agencies in need within the area.

Every year the United Way collects grant applications, for important programs in the Alcona, Alpena and Montmorency area, and then estimate how much funds should be distributed to the services during a presentation period.

Director Germaine Stoppa said having volunteers to help would be a great weight lifted when it comes to making those decisions.

Stoppa also said she is looking for as many people as she can get.

“We’ll take 20, we’ll take 30. We have 15 agencies that have applied this year, so we need as many panel members as much as we possibly can get. The more that we have, the more input there is,” Stoppa said.

If you would like to volunteer, Stoppa is hoping to have all of her help by April 10th. Reviews will be held at the Alpena Aplex on April 18th, 19th and 20th from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. daily.
