Traverse City Takes Down Alpena for District 8 Crown
GAYLORD,MI- It was two great teams, two undefeated teams, two ace pitchers and only one winner.
Traverse City defended its district 8 Little League crown with a 5-0 win over Alpena.
Cam Stoops got the ball for TC and threw five shutout innings as he kept an Alpena lineup that had scored 54 runs through four games scoreless all afternoon.
The scoring started in the bottom of the third when Jack Dewey hit an RBI single to give TC a 1-0 lead. TC would end up scoring 4 times in the 3rd.
Dewey would later come on to relieve Stoops and he struck out the side in the 6th.
Traverse City now advances to the Michigan State Tournament. Their fist game is scheduled for July 22, where they will take on the District 14 champions.
