Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary Superintendent Dives for a Cause

Superintendent of Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary made good on his promise to jump into Thunder Bay today.

Jeff Gray committed to taking a dip in the freezing water if the organization surpassed its Giving Tuesday goal. The sanctuary blew its $7,500 goal out of the water, bringing in over $13,000 in donations. We caught up with Gray after his chilly jump.

“It was invigorating. It was fun, it was great. We started this a few years ago when Giving Tuesday started and we tried to find a way that we can maybe inspire people to give when we didn’t know. We just were kind of playing around with ideas, and decided it was kind of around Thanksgiving, [I] put on a turkey suit and jumped in the Thunder Bay River.”

Donations are always being accepted. If you’d like to contribute, visit thunderbayfriends.org.
