Thorson and Cardinals are rebuilding but are looking to make a deep-run in the postseason

ALPENA, Mich. — When it comes to rebuilding, it all starts with the basics. That’s what Whittemore-Prescott Head Coach Tommy Atkinson and this years Cardinals team is currently going through. A lot of new faces are on this years team, including senior quarterback Dana Thorson.

“All of this is new to me,” said Thorson. “I’m stepping into a new environment. I have to take what I know from football and put it in to what I have to do, and to help everyone around.”

Even though, the Cardinals finished with a (3-5) record, the expectations are very high. They are hoping to make a deep-run in the postseason and this team believes they can rise to the occasion.

“I think there is a very high ceiling for these guys,” said Atkinson. “We have a bunch of young men who are very motivated and dedicated from last season until now.”

The Cardinals first game is Aug. 30 as they host Rogers City.
