Temperatures will get even hotter late-week

High temperatures today got up to 87 degrees in Alpena, 88 degrees in Saginaw and 91 in Traverse City. The warmth is here to stay, and high temperatures will get close to 90 degrees later in the week.

Highs Tuesday afternoon will range from near 80 degrees at the Lake Huron shoreline to about 90 degrees along M-33. Sunny skies are expected all day, and a light breeze out of the southeast will keep temperatures slightly cooler at the shoreline. Highs will reach around 80 degrees in Tawas City, 84 degrees in Alpena and 89 degrees in Mio.

Temperatures will remain very warm through midweek, and get even hotter late in the week. Highs will be in the middle 80s for both Tuesday and Wednesday. Temperatures will heat up to 90 degrees Thursday afternoon in Alpena (away from the shoreline), and it’s likely temperatures will be a few degrees above 90 for areas close to M-33. Friday and Saturday, highs are forecast to reach the upper 80s.

Tuesday: Sunny and warm, but not terribly humid. Predawn temperatures will be around 58 degrees. By 10 a.m., temperatures will already rise to to the upper 70s. Afternoon highs will reach about 84 degrees. Temperatures will remain warm into the early-evening, still close to 80 degrees.

Wednesday: Sunny all day. Predawn temperatures will start in the upper 50s. Temperatures will get into the middle 70s by the late-morning. Afternoon highs will warm to around 86 degrees. Early-evening temperatures will be in the lower 80s.

Thursday: Partly cloudy, hotter and more humid. Predawn lows will be around 60 degrees. By the late-morning, temperatures will rise to the upper 70s. Temperatures will heat up to afternoon highs near 90 degrees! Temperatures will still be in the lower-middle 80s during the early-evening.
