Alpena, Mich. — March is ‘National Reading Month,’ and students at Ella White Elementary had a special visitor read books for them this morning.

State Representative of the 106th District, Sue Allor, stopped by kindergarten classrooms to read the book “Touch the Brightest Star.” The book is more of a bed time story, so it was perfect to ease the children into a nap.

“Reading is probably the best thing that any kid can learn,” said Allor. “If they have the skills to read, they’re going to be able to go anywhere they want in life. It doesn’t matter what they might want to do, it’s picking up that book and being able to read it and comprehend.”

Allor hopes that these children will make reading a high priority not just during this month but all year.
