Six Alpena Hockey Players Receive All State Honors

ALPENA, MI- The Alpena Wildcats had one of the greatest seasons in program history as they won a school record 24 games and captured a third straight regional title.  The squad was well represented on the 2023 Division Two all state team.

All-State First Team Selections:

Anden Marceau: Sr. Forward:  A four year varsity player, Marceau finished of his Wildcat career with his finest season yet. The senior scored 30 goals and dished out 39 assists.  His final goal being the game winner with 30 seconds left against Marquette in the regional championship.

Harrison Kaszubowski: Soph. Forward:  Kaszubowski showed signs off promise in his limited freshman season.  Fully healthy as a sophomore he tallied 30 goals and 34 assists.  Doing it all at 15 years old.  The forward assisted on all four goals in the regional final.

Aidan Schultz: Sr. Goalie: The Wildcat netminder was special in his senior season. The winner of 20 games and posting a total of eight shutouts, including a regional semi-final shutout of Traverse City Central.  Recorded a .924 save percentage.

All-State Second Team Selections:

Reid Meinhardt: Soph. Forward: The final piece of the dominant Alpena first line.  Scoring 19 goals and tallying a team high 44 assists.  Recorded two hat tricks on the season.

Brody Thompson: Sr. Defenseman: The leader of the Alpena blue line, Thompson provided offensive ability as well scoring six goals and dishing out 15 assists.

Honorable Mention:

Jack Steinke: Sr. Defenseman: As dependable as they come on the blue line. The senior defenseman scored four goals and tallied 11 assists. Well deserved honorable mention for Steinke.
