Showery First Weekend of Summer; Warming Trend to Follow

High temperatures reached the lower 70s today across Northeast Michigan, though we enjoyed bright skies today. The first weekend of summer will start with showers and cold temperatures, as a storm system skirts our area to the east.

Clouds will continue to move in from the south tonight and tomorrow. Periods of rain currently spreading into parts of southern Michigan will gradually shift towards the northeast, arriving in Northeast Michigan early tomorrow.

Showers will be most prevalent in the morning and afternoon, and cloudy skies will persist into the evening. High temperatures are forecast to reach only into the 60s tomorrow afternoon with a cool breeze out of the northeast.

Tomorrow will be a lousy beach day with showers in the morning and afternoon, and waves of 2-4 feet creating choppy conditions on the water. Conditions are expected to dry out Sunday, and wave heights will ease to about 1 foot.

After some showers move through Saturday, mostly cloudy skies will linger into early Sunday and temperatures will recover into the lower 70s. Sunny skies will shine on Monday as temperatures gradually climb to the mid-70s. The next chance of rain will move through late Tuesday and early Wednesday. By midweek, high temperatures will warm up to the 80 degree mark.
